Trust & safety

Cars from real local businesses, a small deposit online, and total transparency about how it all works. Here is exactly what to expect, and what you arrange yourself.

  • Real local rental businesses

Every car on GoDushi comes from a registered local rental business on the islands, not an anonymous counter at the airport. You see the company behind each car, their reviews from real renters, and you deal with them directly. GoDushi is built for the Dutch Caribbean by people who rent cars here themselves, so booking one is finally simple and clear.

  • You only pay a small deposit online

When you book, you pay a small deposit online to confirm the car. That deposit is 15% of the total, and it comes off the price, it is not an extra fee. You pay the remaining 85% directly to your host at pickup, in cash or by card. You see the full price before you book, with nothing added in between.

  • The exact car you see

What you book is what you get. Every listing shows photos and details of that specific car, not a vague category or an "or similar" promise. In the rare case a car falls out at the last minute, your host can offer you a different one, but you are always free to accept it or cancel for a full refund of your deposit. You are never handed a car you did not choose.

  • What you need to book and drive

To book, you need a GoDushi account with your date of birth. Your age is checked against the listing's minimum, which is usually 21 but some hosts set it higher, and the requirement is shown on every listing. You do not upload your licence to us. Instead, your host checks your valid driver's licence in person when you pick up the car, so bring it with you. Most foreign licences are accepted without an international permit.

  • Insurance and damage

GoDushi does not sell insurance. Each car carries the host's own insurance for commercial rental, and we strongly recommend taking out personal travel insurance with vehicle coverage for your trip. A travel insurance is not the same as the car insurance on your own vehicle back home: that personal car policy does not cover renting a car on the islands. If any damage happens, you settle it directly with your host based on a repair estimate. GoDushi does not hold a security deposit; some hosts ask for a refundable cash or card hold at pickup, arranged with them directly.

  • If something goes wrong

You can message your host directly from your booking at any time, and most things are sorted out in a quick chat. If they are not, you can open a dispute on the booking. GoDushi only holds the 15% you paid us online, so that is the only money we can refund, for example when a car is not delivered or is not as described. Money you pay the host directly, the rental balance or a security deposit, stays between you and the host. We always help mediate and can flag a host, but we cannot refund money that never passed through us.

  • Your payment and data

Your online deposit is processed by Stripe, a global payment provider, over a secure connection. The rest you pay your host in person at pickup, so the bulk of the transaction never passes through us. We keep your account details private and only collect what we need to make a booking work.
